New Environmental Trend: China Paint & Dow Coating Materials Technical Cooperation Seminar The China Paint Mfg Co (1932) Ltd (hereinafter called "China Paint") and the world famous US chemical enterprise, Dow Coating Materials (hereinafter called "Dow") had signed product development agreement, in regard to "FASTRACK Road Marking Technology". Afterwards, China Paint developed the "Flower Waterbased Road Marking Paint". Since the environmental and conservation issues take an important role in the global development trend, China Paint held the "New Environmental Trend: China Paint & Dow Coating Materials Technical Cooperation Seminar" at the China Club on 17th July 2009, aiming as to share our new technology and products with over 150 attendants, coming from government, commercial and professional sectors. Flower Waterbased Road Marking Paint "FASTRACK Road Marking Technology" was presented by Mr Mitchell Yu, the Technical Service Manager, North Asia, Industrial Coating of Dow Coating Materials. He said that the water-based (hereinafter called WB) road marking paint could be applied in many areas. Its prominent characteristics, like low VOC and solvent content, free from toxic chemicals, non-flammable, good weathering and wearing resistance, good adhesion with glass beads and thus resulting in good visibility even in nighttime and bad weather, makes it to be the best choice for the road traffic projects. WB road marking paint was used in US Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport in early 1985 and became very popular in US, Australia and European countries in the recent decade. Comparing with the developed countries, the WB road marking paint is much less common in China. It means that there is still plenty room for its development. According to the opinions of Mr Chin Kong, the Managing Director of China Paint Mfg Co (Shenzhen) Ltd, highway to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, second phase of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport project, 4 airports in Southern China and roads to Guangzhou Asian Games venues will all use "Flower Waterbased Road Marking Paint". Green Paints Apart from the water-based road marking paint, Mr Clarence Cheung, the chief chemist, R&D department of the China Paint Mfg Co (Shenzhen) Ltd, also introduced our coming green paints to the attendants. They included low VOC alkyd enamel, WB anti-corrosive coatings, WB heavy-duty protective coatings, WB two-packed PU protective coatings and anti-formaldehyde odour-less emulsion paint etc. We are very grateful to share and exchange our opinions with the audiences, in regard to our new technology and products in the seminar.
